I am more of a risk-taker and my husband is more conservative. I actually lost money by following advice from (a man at) my bank, and started winning again by following my husband’s advice. . . go figure.

I am a woman, and I have a few investments, but they are mostly pretty basic stuff, I would like to get more involved in investing and have my money work for me a bit more. I admit to being somewhat intimidated by the whole investment process. I wish I wasn’t!

I am sad to report I am one of the 82% without a financial plan. I have discussed with a financial planner and made the first step towards planing, but know I need to take more concrete action. A commitment I will make here and now to do in the next 3 months.

I have RRSP’s in my name and my wife has some in her name as well. We also have joint bank acct’s together. We make all our financial decisions together. I have read the book by Sherry Cooper, “The New Retirement”, and found it very informative,(right up there with Gorden Pape). I also find Patricia Lovett-Reid very interesting to listen and have got some useful tips by watching her videos on BNN. So yes women play a large role in todays financial world, and in our house as well.

A number of general managers and CEOs of credit unions in Atlantic Canada are also women. In fact the CEO of Newfoundland and Labrador Credit Union is a woman and it’s one of the largest on the East Coast!
